Blog Series 5 – Ojas, Tejas & Prana: The Energies That Healed Me

Ojas, Tejas & Prana: The Energies That Healed Me

Before I understood these words, I felt them.

I felt them in the soft light of morning, when breath moved easily through my chest. I felt them in the steady calm that replaced anxiety after months of daily rituals. I felt them in the quiet joy that returned when I walked slowly, cooked with care, and honored my body with intention.

These weren’t just habits. They were energies coming back to life. And Ayurveda gave them names:

Ojas – Vitality & Deep Nourishment

The subtle essence of all dhatus (body tissues), Ojas is your immunity, resilience, and glow. It’s what makes your eyes bright, your sleep restful, your skin luminous.

When I was depleted, my Ojas was low: I felt fragile, over-sensitive, easily drained.

Now, I protect it with:

  • Warm, nourishing meals and sattvic food
  • Daily abhyanga with sesame or almond oil
  • Loving boundaries and conscious rest
  • Gratitude journaling and time in nature

Tejas – Inner Radiance & Clarity

Tejas is the refined form of Pitta — your intelligence, transformation, and inner fire. When in balance, it gives you discernment, inspiration, and the ability to process life with grace.

I once mistook burnout for passion. But true Tejas isn’t about hustle. It’s about clear, steady light. I nurture Tejas by:

  • Avoiding overstimulation and excess heat (physical & emotional)
  • Practicing trataka (gazing meditation) or candlelight reflection
  • Spending time in silence to let my inner wisdom rise

Prana – Life Force Energy

The most subtle of all, Prana is your vital life energy, carried through the breath. It flows when we are present, awake, and in harmony.

When Prana is weak, there is fog. Fatigue. Disconnection. When it flows, there is joy. I invite Prana by:

  • Breath-led yoga and pranayama (especially Nadi Shodhana)
  • Walking without  headphones
  • Eating mindfully and breathing between bites
  • Creating more space than noise in my daily life

At Our Retreat, We’ll Embody These Energies Together

At Harmony Within, we’ll not only talk about Ojas, Tejas, and Prana — we’ll feel them, cultivate them, and live them.

Through:

  • Daily yoga and breathwork
  • Ayurvedic meals that nourish every layer of your being
  • Silence, movement, and deep presence
  • Self-reflection practices that awaken your inner glow

Because healing is not about doing more. It’s about being more fully here.

This is the final part of this blog series, but only the beginning of a deeper journey. I hope you’ll join me in Tuscany this October.

Let your energy guide you home.
