Description

The ancient Vedic art of eating is meditation. In Ayurveda, we practice eating by sitting on the floor. Meditation is food for the soul. Our mental attitude greatly depends on the food we eat. Food not only nourishes the body but affects the mind and its alertness and awareness. It is important for you to understand your food, your body, and your mind. Choose your food wisely and clear the way for a blissful meditative experience. A healthy body and a calm mind help us meditate better and go deep within ourselves. A vegetarian diet is easier on the body and conducive to meditation as well.

The sun and moon are not just entities in the sky – they are free medicine given to you by Mother Earth. The sun and the moon connect you to the yin and the yang, the god and the goddess within you, the male and the female – this is Mother Earth’s free medicine for us all to benefit from!

Smita will show you how to balance your plate using this ancient Vedic art.

Ayurveda says a meal should have 6 tastes – sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent. Thali (plate) is said to be a complete representation of these six tastes, which are essential for a balanced meal and a balanced body, to give you a sense of ingredients that embody these tastes across cuisines.

This will be an interactive workshop, but of course, if you prefer not to cook along and instead just watch and listen, this is totally fine too.
